Sorry about the bad cellphone pic but day 7 was rainy and I still haven’t found a good place to set up my camera. I’m wearing my 40s jumper/pinafore and a 40s Dubarry blouse that I haven’t blogged, as well as the knit Greta turban that also hasn’t been blogged.

Day 8 is my Tiramisu dress. After further testdriving, I think Tiramisu makes me look thicker through the middle than I am. I’ve been on the fence about making more. After looking at this picture, I think I shouldn’t.

Day 9 is Macaroon by Colette Patterns. I love these dress and the pattern fits like a dream. I don’t know why I haven’t made more. I really should.

What a great Macaron! That looks aces on you!
Your Tiramisu isn’t bad at all. The color is a little drab for you. The Macaron on the other hand is fabulous on you. Fit, color, everything just works.
The Tiramisu is a wearable muslin. It’s $1 per yard mystery fabric.
Your macaroon is utterly gorgeous. I’ve admired your macaroon before and I wonder if you have watched the Great British Sewing Bee and seen the lovely example on there? I’m a huge fan of the Tiramisu pattern and I have similar body proportions to you and I think (if I can be so bold) that your Tira proportions are not quite right. I found that with a short waist the midriff band is quite unflattering as printed. I halved the depth of mine and it made a difference to the way everything looked, and to the proportion of skirt to dress. I lengthened my sleeves and that worked better proportions wise, but when I look at the cap sleeve on your gorgeous macaroon, I don’t think that is the same issue for you. Thanks so much for sharing your creations – you and your sewing is a big inspiration for me.
I can see what you did in your striped version but your print version is beautiful. I think the key might be to use a print that doesn’t call attention to the midriff piece. Thanks to your dresses, I’ll give it another go.
Thanks. I do have a dark blue ponti knit which I had bought for making a plain Tira. Now I think I shall save it for something else. I’m now thinking of using it for the Cake Patterns Hummingbird when that arrives. As well as really liking the way Cake Patterns’ sizing works, shipping and exchange rate means that they are much more affordable for me than US-based Indie patterns. The Big 4 patterns are quite expensive in NZ as well.
