Hello, world!

This has been a crazy year for my little corner of the world, a suburb of Washington, D.C.  We started the year out with a 4 day power outage due to a blizzard, followed shortly by another blizzard, a heat wave, a minor earthquake and most recently, the most amazing 20 minute storm I’ve ever seen.  The hurricane strength winds knocked out the power for over 300,000 customers in this area.  Ours was off for just over 48 hours.  The blessing is that the storm also broke the heatwave so at least we didn’t have to contend with temperatures over over 100F.  I did manage to finish a couple more pieces of my planned wardrobe last week and I’ll post them later, after cleaning out the fridge, going to the market and getting caught up on all the laundry.  It’s amazing how behind I got on my chores in just a couple days.
