Some New Patterns

I had hoped to be able to post a new dress, but I ran out of matching thread and used the last bits of my white marking pencil and we are snowed in.  The dress I’m currently working on has a total of 12 darts and nothing is showing up on the dark purple.  So, instead we get to look at some lovely pattern goodness.  This marks the end of my pattern buying before my No Spender Bender starts tomorrow.  I can’t believe I’m already going to use up a free pass, but I am bidding on a couple eBay auctions that end on Feb 2.  I bid on them before I made the decision to use Feb 1 as my start date.

This first pattern is the dress I’m currently working on, in a dark purple twill.  The jacket will match and I hope it will be a 4 season dress.

oh good lord, i love 3269 – if you ever ever ever decide to sell it I call dibs 😉

and welcome to nospender bender – it’s not as hard as you think. I love to shop (duh) and i set up a Kaboodle.com account so i can still internet window shop and I save things I see that i like there. every few weeks i weed through it and delete things that no longer strike my fancy. sort of like when you see something you like in a store but you don’t buy it and go home and dwell on it, if you still love it a few days later then you really did love it, but 90% of the time it was a spur of the moment lust purchase, not necessarily a smart purchase.

I love 1716. I like the styles where the princess seams end a the bust.

    I like the 9240 as well. It’s a cutie.

I’m working on creating a 4 season everyday dress. I haven’t seen anything that sparks my fancy and fits my needs or my curvy bottom. I have a sketch, now I just need to get into my sewing room. I keep crossing my fingers and saying “this week, this week…”

I can’t wait to see the purple dress!

Inky, we’ll see about 3269. I haven’t had much luck fitting 30s patterns to my figure.
Janel, I thought 1716 was princess seamed when I bought it, but it isn’t. It’s more like the Simplicity jumper reprint with a fuller skirt, 2 fronts, 2 backs and 12 darts.

I love 1716! I can’t wait to see it made up. I would have thought it was princess seamed too, yikes on all the darts!

Hi! I saw the nonspender bender thing…I’m also joining the “club”, and soon I’ll write it on a post on my blog (I’ll link yours and Inky’s one, but my blog is in italian, so you won’t be able to read it…sorry…)…
Well Let’s start from today then!!!!

By the way I love all of your creations: you’re great and I will read your blog often from now on!!!!

I think 8908 is really cute! It reminds me of a pattern by Colette Patterns. I wonder if she drew inspiration from a similar pattern? 9240 looks great for Spring/Summer.

    Hello,

I was unable to find a contact email, so I am leaving a comment. I would be very interested in hiring you to sew some dresses for me. I am a plus sized lady who loves the 40’s and early 50’s style, but am pretty much hopeless with a sewing machine. Please contact me at ardithquinne@yahoo.com… I’d love to discuss this with you.

    Thanks!
