Thoughts on Wartime fashion

I started this dress while on vacation.  I’m still waiting on the fabric for the wedding dress I’ll be working on.  This is the third or fourth WWII style that I’ve dried since losing a bunch of weight last year.  Prior to the weight loss, the wartime styles looked great on me.  I love the clothes, hairstyles and especially the shoes.  However, I just don’t think it flatter my new figure.  I’m not sure I can alter it to fit, while keeping the distinctive wartime look.  At this point, I think I’m ready to put all my WWII era patterns up on eBay.

September Agenda

This past summer was a flurry of vintage sewing.  It looks like the fall will not be the same, but for happy reasons.  Some friends are expecting a long awaited bundle of joy and who can resist sewing frilly, little baby dresses?  She’s expected to enter the world on October 1 so I’m working on some things for her.  Also, a friend has asked me to help her with her wedding gown.  Because this wonderful lady is not like the brides I’ve worked for in the past, I couldn’t help but say yes to her.  She has given me permission to discuss the project, so as soon as the fabric arrives, I will post pictures.  I do have plans for a dress to wear to said wedding, but I’m not so sure it will get done.
